I'm extremely impressed with the bravery and courage that Tanya has shown within the release of her latest album, and am once again left dumbfounded by the depth that she can show within her music and her performance quality. Here are the (very well done, I must say) music videos that she's done for this album!
This song has such beautiful imagery entwined within the lyrics and the music video pairs off with the song perfectly. It is a very unique take on one aspect within love, and tanya gives listeners a sense of surrealism and loss of direction while listening. Maybe you do have to get lost sometimes in order to find your direction in life, yes?
<Angel vs Devil> is a perfect song to encompass Tanya's entire album concept by using dark humor to combine all the elements within her album and to reflect on the struggle between good and evil. sin and sorrow, beauty and ugliness. It also once again reminds us of Tanya's unique qualities as a singer and a musician!
This song is very interesting, because the lyrics were actually written by *gasp!* Xiao S , most well known as the sharp-witted and nosey TV host of the show Kang Xi Lai Le . Who knew she could write lyrics too? Looks like theres more to her than meets the eye!
<ten thousand tears> is one of my favourite songs on tanya's album, and the music video just helped to further accentuate the meaning within this song; simple but so heartfelt that you can't help but relate to it all; Tanya's tiredness, her heartbreak and all the mixed emotions within this piece.
This song to me is a stark contrast to <ten thousand tears>, but its really interesting in that it reflects on the point of the album completely; humans are complicated creatures and there is nothing you can do to avoid contradictions in your ideas and thoughts. Who can tell me that they can't completely understand the contradiction between wanting a 'friends-with-benefits' kind of relationship, while deep down, still always yearning for something more? Maybe when we stop giving labels to things, we can find that it is these 'contradictions' that make up us as human beings, and thus have revealed Tanya's deepest thoughts in the most imperfectly accurate way possible.
<Falling> is probably the most raw song on Tanya's album, a true expose of her views on her personal life. You'll just have to listen to really understand Tanya, and let me tell you, this is one song worth listening to.
