After a long break (his last album was released in 2009), Evan Yo is finally back with his latest EP “I Think I Can我想我可以” which will be released on the 11th of September. With the backing of many celebrity friends who have taken to Facebook to post their renditions of his single such as Jess Lee, Huang Zi Jiao, Penny Dai, Abin, Eve ai, Nicholas Teo, Kenji Wu and more, I’ve already heard it enough times to want to hear the original version.
Well, it’s not far now! His single can be heard from 31st of August onwards, so what are you waiting for? #我想我可以
Kenji Wu's finally back with his third album <On the way to the stars>! The album was released on the 10th of April, and is touted as his comeback album after a three-year hiatus. This album's going to be a little different from Kenji's previous works as expressed by the singer-songwriter himself. Kenji stated that he's wanted to try the genre of brit-rock ever since his first album, but did not have the tools to do so then. He also expressed that he is happy that he is finally able to use this genre in his latest album, which likewise has a 'cool'(literally) theme of space and time.
Here's a little excerpt from the press release:
Translation: Since he was young, Kenji loved bands such as Coldplay and Travis, and always hoped to move towards the genre of brit-rock which he felt was full of potential with an air of cloudy depression, but yet also with the power to move people and give them strength through its music. Earlier on he had already wanted to try out this genre of music, but always felt that his skills were not enough. After finishing his previous album and after feeling that he and his production team had broken some barriers, Kenji finally began to try out brit-rock arrangements. In order to achieve the images of his music he had in his head, in terms of arrangements and production he took almost two years to do so, meticulously organising every sound and element, even in terms of the arrangement collaborations, the sound engineer was deeply moved by his music.
Well, there you have it! I hope that Kenji's experimentation with brit-rock, a genre I really enjoy turn out wonderfully, and can't wait to hear more myself! But for now, here are the first two singles he's released...
kenji wu's first single: You are my jupiter
Kenji Wu's second single: no pain no love
Kenji Wu's 2015 album <On the way to the stars> will be released on the 10th of April, and can be pre-ordered as of the 18th of March from Books.tw.
This is the second MV from Kenji's newest album , featuring good friend actress/model/singer/lyricist Vivian Hsu!
Interesting fact: She also wrote the lyrics for this song.
The title sounds pretty chauvinistic to me , but hey , you gotta watch to find out!
Now here's a real treat for all you viewers out there : I have three clips of songs or music videos by three very popular artists ; Angela Chang , Kenji Wu and Jay CHou who will be releasing their new albums very shortly.
Angela Chang is rumoured to be releasing her latest album next month , which will make her fans very happy! Her last album was released 3 years ago in 2009 , named <The 5th season>. Hopefully her 6th album will be an exciting listen for all her fans! Here is a 60 second clip from one of the songs rumoured to be in her album called <That Girl>.
The next is from Kenji Wu's album which will be coming out soon , based on all the hype that's surrounding it at the moment. They've released teasers of the music video and audio versions , but I've managed to find the complete music video for the song! Enjoy!
Jay Chou has recently released an MV for a song called 琴伤 (for what reason I really don't know), but what really got me noticing this music video was that the main girl character in it is played by none other than nan Quan mama's Lara. i'm a big fan and it's nice to be seeing her and Jay Chou paired up together again .
