Third-culture kid Takkin 德堅 has set his creative axis onto another trajectory with his debut single 'Stay Together'; released both with English and Mandarin versions.
The young creative who borrowed his stage name from his father has always moved around; spending his childhood in Singapore, Hong Kong, Rochester and Michigan. Now based in NYC, music has always been his grounding force; something that is clearly evident in the uniquely chilled and layered atmosphere he's created within his new single 'Stay Together'.
“It’s accessible, and it has a pulse that many can identify with: a positive message heralding the value of longevity in relationship. Things can be fixed. Nothing is beyond repair. It showcases the movement of the narrative and highlights the unique vocal delivery. It’s my flag in the ground; my way of saying: I’m here to stay.“
Previously releasing with a three-piece folk band Northern, Takkin turned his focus onto his own cultural identity and exploring it through his music when a dear member of the band moved away. Of the change in direction, Takkin says:
"Creating music influenced by my own heritage has been an exciting change. There’s a stir of new energy in the air, in the ground. The world is opening up to Asian artists, especially more so in the United States. People are eager for new faces, new interpretations, new formulas. I feel the pulse. I’m here to answer the call."
With the vocals of a learned crooner (very Eric Chou styles) and melodic hooks which subtly catch your attention and reel you in, 'Stay Together' is a sensitive, beautifully haunting R&B/Soul piece which you won't soon forget.
Listen to Takkin's new single 'Stay Together', now out on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and Soundcloud. Follow Takkin on all his social medias (Facebook, Instagram) to stay tuned for his upcoming regular releases!

Rain is protection, hiding within it and crying your feelings out
Rain is soothing, let the wind and rain wash away your mistakes
Rain is redemption, anticipating the sun to cause the pain to evaporate
Dubbed the new-gen Prince of Ballads, soulful crooner Eric Chou is back with his third album 'The Chaos After You如果雨之後'.
Working with an all-star team including Swedish producer Freddy Haggstam as well as famed lyricists Wu Yi Wei, Xu Shi Zhen and Rao Xue Man, this time Chou has tried his hand at writing not only the melodies and lyrics, but also at producing and arranging this album.
During the process before and during the conception of this album, Eric has thought deeply about how he can continue to diversify his musical style and present some new breakthroughs in his compositions and performances, so as to meet audiences' expectations.
Finally, with his first single 'Without Her', we can see how Eric has moved towards bringing new styles of EDM into the Taiwanese music scene, and how this has shaped the theme behind his latest album. Of his philosophy, he says: "If it just feels okay, sounds good, to me this is still not enough".
For Chou, classic love songs that excite and stimulate is not his goal; instead, he hopes to discover how to push past inner defenses, touching your heart.
The psychologist Herbart divides consciousness into the superficial and latent stages, proposing that both come together to create a full consciousness. If Eric Chou's ballads are the grey sorrow and grief, his new single 'Without Her' is the deep grey of self-reflection and expression.
Thus, we can see with this new single and album, that a new attitude towards Chou's music has emerged.
The album also includes tantalising new singles such as sweet track 'The Way You Make Me Feel黏黏', in which Eric duets with popular Taiwanese actress Ann Hsu, 'Unbreakable Love永不失聯的愛' and 'After The Chaos如果雨之後' which show a different side to Eric than previously presented in his last two albums.
Eric Chou's album 'The Chaos After You如果雨之後' is now out on all major streaming platforms, including KKBOX, Spotify, MyMusic, Omusic, and iTunes.
A year after the release of his debut album 'Learn to Love", talented balladeer and singer-songwriter Eric Chou is back with his second album titled "What Love Has Taught Us".
After learning to love, he's back to teach us what love has taught him. Makes sense, don't it?
Hot off the presses, his single "How Are You" has become a cult success this summer, having already been covered hundreds of times since its release and attaining over 4 million YouTube hits since.
From what I've heard, Chou has certainly upped his game since the last album. His melodies flow a little more than they did before, and incorporate more sophisticated elements this time around.
As for his vocals, well...heart-meltingly warm and emotive as usual.
However, fans can expect more breakthrough efforts from Chou in this album, as he delves into the EDM genre and works with the likes of EDM/Hip Hop producer Starr Chen on single "Let it go".
Overall, given Chou's track record for some really solid, melodic tracks, I'm super excited to hear the rest of his album!

Eve Ai has always been a musician and artist I have admired greatly. Although I admit I'm not too well-versed in her music, her unique, throaty vocals and brash at times, yet sweet at others songwriting style has always been a point of interest for me.
So this time, with the release of her third album "Talk about Eve", I was determined to get onto the bandwagon before I missed my chance again!
Although in previous albums, Eve had showcased a more abrasive take by criticising current societal trends through her album "Grown Up's Love Songs", she has stated that this time, she's going to be taking a softer approach.
"I don't wish to be at odds with the world anymore, I want to take those closest to me and flee together, towards the lives we want."
Encircling this latest album are the themes of 'love' and 'escape', two ideas which are very relevant to women in modern society.
Eve has said that this will be her most intimate album to date, saying "I envision this to be an album which will allow me to get close to my audience, we can sit together, chat about love, this and that, listen to my observations on life, and share views".
Fans can expect a variety of exciting collaborations within the album with the likes of famed producer Chen Jian Qi, singer songwriters Evan Yo and Eric Chou, as well as lyricist Zhang Jian Jun Wei.
Her first single "Sum of Us" has already caught the attention of many with its beautiful, stripped down arrangement against Eve's mesmerising and intimate vocals which will have your heart caught in your throat in no time.

Her second single "Harmless Loneliness" is impulsive, reckless and emotional. Certainly not just any old love ballad. Check out the cool music video too!
