Cindy Yen is a Taiwanese-American Singer who is currently signed under Jay Chou's Record Company , JVR Records. She is 24 years old.
During her teenage years , her mother had expressed her desire for Cindy to become a Piano Teacher , or a classical Pianist. CIndy herself was very talented at the Piano , and went on to win many Gold Medals for her performances. Not only does she play the Piano , but also began learning to play the Violin at the age of 10. She studied at the University of Austin , Texas , furthering her career as a Pianist studies wise.
However , she always knew that she wanted to become a singer , not a pianist and tried to audition for American Idol twice , both times rejected by the Judges. nevertheless , she did not give up , and persuaded her mother to bring her back to Taiwan in order for her to pursue her singing career. After becoming the first member of Jay Chou's recording company , JVR Records , she released her Self-titled album <Cindy Yen> in 2009 , with all songs written by her with input of lyrics from Lara Veronin , Vincent Fang and other notable lyricists.
Her duet with Jay Chou , Sand Painting is featured in her album and is known famously as the first duet that Jay CHou has ever sung with someone else which was not written by him. As it was written by Cindy herself , this shows the confidence that Jay had in her talent . The song itself won countless awards and became the top dowloaded ringtone of 2010.
Her 2009 Album consisted of Country , Classical and Rock infused songs , showing that not only can she sing , but also write songs. Her abilities in the musical field have put her apart from other female singers of her age , and shown that although she only has one album under her belt , there are sure to be more to come.
Reviews and track Listings for her latest album can be found in pg 4 of the CD
