Jazz has become pretty big in the chinese music industry lately . Following the popularity of newbie Jazz-pop artist yen-J in late 2010 , there have been ahuge revival in many ways of the jazz genre. Fan FAn included a little bit of a Jazz feel in her 2011 album , <love and Fan Fan> , Gary Chaw and his band Sensations released their Jazz album Sensations , with great success. Jam hsiao , too released his own Jazz Album called <Mr Jazz> , a myriad of covers by some of the most famous jazz pieces of this century. Who's next , you say?
Well , It's going to be Yoga Lin. The singer has collaborated with Taiwanese magazine <The Big Issue> to release his new Jazz Album titled <JAZZ CHANNEL> , hopefuly feturing more input from him as he becomes more and more critically acclaimed with each album.
It features 16 new tracks and ...what's that? All Live?! Well I never.
Anyway , more updates soon , I hope!
For rainie yang's current concert , she is putting together a showcase all about the queens and princess of the chinese music industry. She has released a new single called <Love Voyage> , which is a delightful mashup of all the greatest Love songs of our generation-by female singers of course. They include the hits of jolin Tsai , Karen Mok , Rene Liu , Tanya Chua and Elva Hsiao , Fish Leong , Angela Chang and more. Can you guess which ones are in it?
She has also released a second single , which is her cover of Faye Wong's 1997 hit , <暗湧>.
Four years ago , I created this website because I was sick of reading badly translated articles and information about Chinese music , which has been part of the problem making chinese music fairly unpopular in recent years. I want to share my passion for chinese music with everyone around the world , and make chinese music accessible for all! As a result , this site is completely English-user friendly and provides you with (what I hope) to be the most up-to-date and wide range of information about Chinese Music.
Something that I want to leave with every single visitor of this site is that chinese music is no longer what it's stereotype claims; an industry pumping out generic love songs and bubblegum pop which is second to the korean industry. It is unique and fascinating in it's own right , and I hope that my site will suffice to show you that.
Thank you to everyone who follows this blog/website ; within it I have found many kindred souls who share my love for chinese music!
A-Lin has recently released her newest album called <幸福了然后呢>(We're happy , what next). The first single of the same name , written by popular producer Skot Suyama has reached the tops of the KKbox charts with its rock infused balladiness.
Her second music video and single to be released is called <好朋友的祝福>(The blessings of a good friend) , one that the ballad goddess pulls off perfectly.
Her third single , <920> is a collaboration with close friend and labelmate , the talented singer songwriter producer Xiaoyu. The lyrics are written by A-Lin , with the melody by xiaoyu.
Interesting fact: The <920> signifies the date of A-Lin's birthday , and is Xiao Yu's birthday present to A-lin. The pinyin of nine , two and zero in chinese follows the pinyin of the words <I love only you>(jiu ai ni).
This is also one of my favourite songs from her album , called <wen rou lei le> (gentleness has become weary) , juxtaposing simplicity with the richness of her voice.
The song <Purple rain> is another one of her collaborations with producer Skot Suyama , in which she wrote the lyrics. it is said that she wrote the lyrics for a very dear friend who is no longer with her , and although she says that it is not a piece of work that she is 100% happy with , the raw emotion that is present within the song is so pure and real that it cant help but draw each and everyone of us into the song with her.
<Woman in Love> is a single on which A-Lin collaborated with fellow label mate singer-songwriter Xiao Yu and is a refreshing take on a R n B piece with lyrics also written by A-Lin herself.
Elva has since released her new greatest hits album that comes with 6 new songs. For those of you into freebies , the original version comes with a PVC purse designed by Elva herself. She has said that she will be releasing her own line of clothing this year , so stay tuned for more info on that. This time she comes back with a new image as Super Elva , the superhero of love. hmm interesting.
She may be a dancing goddess , but on no counts does she lose out in terms of her singing ability. In this second music video for her new song <有爱到就好〉she sings with such raw emotion and power that it is no wonder her ballads are also surefire hits.
Elva shows off her cutesy side in the third music video for her song <放爱情一个假〉(Give love a break)where she frolicks around with a very handsome male lead in a seemingly alternate universe that makes no sense to me whatsoever.（Thinkpaper mache goat heads and pink coloured popcorn everywhere)
Also included in this album is her duet with popular singer Han Geng , called <最佳听众> （THe best listener).
