LALA HSU 徐佳瑩: 尋人啟事 Missing Person (TRANS)

The first time I listened to this song was
live at Lala Hsu’s album preview concert. I’d heard it a few times before, a
melody drifting in and out as I walked through the bustling streets of Taipei,
but the first time I really stopped and listened to it was when I watched her
sing it live. It was the first song she sang that night, and its beauty will
forever be deeply imprinted in my memory. The beautiful melody enchanted me to
no end, and even as I read the lyrics right now, the soft strength of Lala’s
whisper echoes, always there, never too far away from my thoughts. I see a lot
of singers trying to use the crooning/whispering vocal technique to create a
different, more indie atmosphere in songs a lot, but usually they are unable to
capture the emotion in the songs well enough to pull it off. With lala however,
she captures this sense of heartache and longing so flawlessly that it makes my
heart ache. The thing I love about lala is that she knows when to take control
and when to let go, maintaining a sense of equilibrium always in her album. She
doesn’t have to write every single song on every single album, and I feel that
she had great foresight in getting this song from Hush and getting the lyrics
from Jianwei Huang, both go together like a match made in heaven. I guess we’re
all looking for that one person , ceaselessly and tirelessly without ever really
letting go. Lala’s honesty really shines through in this song and makes it even
more so relatable for all listeners.
