To me, listening to covers is different from listening to the original song. The song covered is one that has already been released, and has already made their mark on the industry. It's also a more casual listening experience for me, because the tune in this case is not created, but borrowed. But that doesn't mean it's bad at all! Covers allow artists a landing page on which they can create their own ideas, or to allow their voice to be heard. After all, not everyone is capable of writing a number one hit like <Ai Ni>, nor has the capacity to maintain all the logistics that it takes to get the song out there. In my opinion, covers are purely a way to show off an artists' ability rather than a critique on the song itself. As a reviewer, I like listening to covers because I don't feel a constant need to analyse the melody, lyrics, or arrangement of the song so much! In other words, I can just focus on one thing at a time, and truly appreciate an artists' sound purely for what it is, nothing else. So to me, listening to covers is a form of relaxation, something that is sorely needed in a busy world such as ours. So sit back and enjoy our very first APW Live cover of Kimberley Chen's song <Love you>(Ai ni)!
<Ai Ni>'s been one of my favourite songs since it was first released; I had the pleasure of listening to Kimberley sing it live before it's release on a trip to Taiwan and from then onwards, I was completely hooked. I think I sang it everyday in the shower for about three months, and still do every once in a while. So at least you can't say I'm short of practice! Haha. My sister Jan who's accompanying me on the guitar tried to put her on spin on things as well, so we really hope you guys like it enough to watch it again, and again, and again, and again. And then Like, Share, and Subscribe. :)
I've always believed that words mean nothing if they can't be put into action. So I decided to start a Youtube project called APW Live to share our ideas on music with all of you in a different medium altogether! No writing, no reading, just listening. Please like, share and subscribe to our Youtube page here, and as always, we hope you enjoy listening to them!
